First Fridays are a monthly citywide event for Kansas City locals where culture is showcased and cherished. Whether local or international, city dwellers partake in a wide variety of art exhibits, live music, special cuisine, and more!
Yesterday, I explored a section of Kansas City’s First Friday Festival at the revered West Bottoms Warehouse Shops. An area that was once an essential component for the local farm and manufacturing economy is now converted into a lively cultural center. I was immediately immersed into a welcoming atmosphere upon arrival. Each shop, although selling all similar items, has individual and bold personalities. The few I was able to explore include: Ug & Co, Bella Patina, Nook and Cranny, ReDFind, and Le Fou Flea. Due to the culture that surrounds West Bottoms during First Fridays, I decided to photograph the distinct ambiance that resides in the antiques and artisanal crafts within each store.
